As I was putting together this gift guide, I found that a lot of gifts for the athletic friend overlapped with gifts that a travel-lover would use as well. Reflective Gear
I always keep reflective gear in my gym bag now that it is dark out whenever I have time to run. With reflective strips circling each leg, these reflective leggings would be perfect for running on these cold, dark winter days. As a runner, I look all over the place for reflective tights every year (they don’t seem to improve as much as I would like from year to year), and these are the most reflective I have seen on the market. For a smaller price and amount of reflectivity, these gloves would be great!
Athleisure Wear
There are many days when I appreciate that the athleisure wear trend is still going strong. This is especially true when a pair of leggings and a pullover are acceptable for a trip to the grocery store, whether or not I just came from a workout. Throw on some cute sneakers and you fit right in with everyone else in the store ;) Athleisure wear is also popular as comfortable travel attire. So, no matter what kind of adventure she is into, you can’t go wrong with this trend.
Workout Helpers
A few weeks ago I went to a barre class nearby. As I looked around the room I realized that almost every person in the room had a S’well water bottle. Needless to say, these are great for working out, or just for the friend on the go.
Teleties, stylish “strong-grip, no-rip” hair ties, have become super popular in the last year and for good reason. I try to put hair ties in my bag, but am often caught with one around my wrist. Designed by two female athletes, these antibacterial hair ties are designed to look good when stacked with your bracelets and hold up your hair. Score.
I love a cute, functional sports bra, and this strappy, but supportive, Under Armour one looks like it would cover all of the criteria. Part of the Misty Copeland Collection, it is pretty, yet practical enough for girls who move all day.
One more for those at the barre – these “Happy Hour at the Barre” socks have non-slip grips on the bottom to help your sweaty feet stay put in those pulsing sumo squats that feel like they will never end. Yes, please.
From the Gym or the Plane
Whether I’m coming from a run, from a long flight, or just from a busy week, dry shampoo is a staple in my toiletry bag. I don’t know how I have lived so long without it. This travel-sized version is the perfect stocking stuffer for all of your favorite busy girls.
Recently I attended a yoga class that ended with the instructor lightly rubbing essential oil onto our temples during shavasana and it was the most relaxing experience. Lavender or Energy blend essential oil roll-ons would be the perfect way to feel refreshed and relaxed post-workout or post plane-ride.
The Traveler
In addition to a cute weekender bag, one of the best gifts for the constant traveler is a solid scarf. Scarves are so versatile while traveling. They can be used as a blanket on those cold plane or car rides, and around her neck to keep her stylish and warm when she gets to her destination.
A sleep mask is always something I try to remember on long trips, and a stylish sleep mask can be a luxury people don’t think about buying for themselves.
For the adventurer who has it all, a new travel book can provide great inspiration for their next trip. I have two of the New York Times 36 Hours books and love them because they provide itineraries and things to do in different cities. National Geographic also has a few travel books with stunning photos of sites all over the world (this one and this one look awesome!).
