fall fashion: dresses, bottoms, tops and warm layers

I can’t believe it is October already!  Where did September go?  Am I the only one who feels like it was just August and we flew through September?

As the weather gets cooler here and warmer clothing becomes more and more necessary, I love pulling out my fall clothes, scarves and boots.  Fall is my favorite season for clothes.  The more layers the better.  Even more points based on the coziness of your layers.  Chunky knit sweater paired with a big blanket scarf and boots, complete with boot socks?  Check yes.  All of the plaid?  Absolutely.  Let’s break it out while we can!  Here are some of my current favorite pieces for fall, if only they were all in budget ;)  I tried to link some that are reach and some that are more budget friendly.  Enjoy!

Tops | I’m loving the wine/oxblood/burgundy/whatever-you-want-to call-it trend.  It is such a great color for fall and goes with almost everything in my closet.  I’m on board.  And is it fall if there is no plaid?  There are so many great plaid shirts out there right now.  I keep telling myself that I don’t need them all.  But the stripes?  Maybe I do need them all.  Will would probably say I already have all of the stripes, but you can never go wrong with another stripe, amirite?

Bottoms | It is corduroy season again!  Sticking with the wine-colored theme I love these vibrant colored cords.  I typically gravitate toward the skinnys but they come in boot cut too.  I just got this houndstooth wool skirt and I love it!  I have always wanted a plaid/tweed skirt and I can’t wait to wear it everywhere this season.  While I wish I could wear the skirt to work all the time, some mornings the walk to the bus stop is just too cold for exposed legs.  That’s where these beautiful work pants come in.  Same great fall colors and wonderful patterns, more warmth.

Warm Layers | Layers are one of the best things about fall clothes.  Perfect for days that are too cold for just a shirt, but not quite cold enough for a coat.  Sweaters and vests are my favorite.  There are so many great sweaters out there, but we are sticking with the trendy puffer vest, revamped turtleneck and the classic cable knit.  Love ’em, love ’em, love ’em.

Dresses | Who said dresses were just for warm temperatures?  Not I, not I.  Whip out those tights and boots or just pair with pumps for days spent inside and you’ve got yourself a pretty fall outfit.  These beautiful dresses range from more casual to workplace to party; one for every occasion.  Don’t you love how I was able to sneak plaid into three categories ;)  These are perfect to keep around for winter too, just add your coat!
