I know holiday color pairings should probably be left for cute little kids in their matching leggings and applique shirt combos, but even as an adult, I have always appreciated a good take on holiday colors.
I have had this skirt hanging in my closet for a while (because before that it was in my sister’s closet ;) ), but there aren’t many occasions I get to wear it. I love the burnt orange color that is vibrant enough to stand out, but isn’t bright or obnoxious. This time of year it matches perfectly with all of the beautiful changing leaves on the trees. The subtle shine is enhanced by the gorgeous afternoon light. Now I’m going to brag on my talented sister who MADE THIS SKIRT. Yup. A few years ago my sister went on a church trip to Thailand and Singapore. In certain parts of those countries it is expected that you cover your knees. This was about a year before maxi skirts were really popular and there were not that many options in stores. Instead of buying 5 of the same skirt at Target, Lane pulled out her sewing machine and whipped up three beautiful silky maxi skirts that we both still wear today. While you, unfortunately, can’t get this fabulous skirt in stores, I have linked two similar options at the bottom of the post that are available. Or you could run to JoAnn Fabrics and DIY your own ;) If only we were all that talented. Happy fall!
