Welcome to the new face of Pass the Cookies! You may have noticed that over the past few days, things have looked a little different around here. I’m thrilled to introduce you to the new and improved blog design!
I first launched Pass the Cookies as a hobby to keep myself busy while Will studied in medical school. The sited started out on a basic WordPress theme, but over the years I have been slowly searching for a new look that was more sophisticated and modern. My old site didn’t have the capability to do everything I wanted it to do, and I’m giddy that this one can so easily meet the needs of Pass the Cookies, and look good doing it!
One of the new features that I’m most excited about is the recipe index. If you remember on the old site, my recipe index was a list of links. It worked fine, but wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing as I hoped. The biggest issue with it was that I did’t have a way to pull recipes into the index, so I had to manually add each recipe every time I posted one, which was a major hassle and was not efficient. I’m so excited to have a recipe index with photos that automatically updates whenever I post a recipe. It is easier for me, and hopefully will make it quicker for you to be able to find just what you want.
A couple other new features you may notice are the improved sidebar with sections for recent posts, categories, and archives, sharing links on each post, and tags at the bottom of each post, to make it easier for you to find similar topics.
Because I am figuring this out on my own with little technical experience, please bear with me as I troubleshoot and work out the kinks in these next few weeks. If you see something you think should be adjusted, or just have suggestions of what you would like to see in the features, please leave a comment to let me know! I’m so excited for this new look for the blog, and I hope it brings you just as much joy as you dig through the new features too.
